Hide the Kale

SO… as previously discussed my lovely daughter is avoiding all things green.  She doesn’t even need to put them into her mouth to make her decision, she just needs to see and touch them to know – ‘I can’t like that mama’. Her face speaks volumes.

Enter the smoothie. I can’t seem to get enough of these delicious and crafty veggie hiders! They take no time at all and the combinations are endless! Here are a couple more varieties I made this past week. I used Kale in all of them. Kale is unbelievably good for you: high in fiber, high in iron, and high in calcium (the blog 365 Days of Kale does an excellent job of explaining calcium from kale vs. calcium from milk). I included the picture of the hubs because he flat out refused to drink the first kale smoothie because kale ‘looked gross’. I have captured his surprise!

2 c kale, 1 lrg banana, 1 c blueberries, 1 orange, 1 c strawberries, 1 cup vanilla yogurt, 1 T ground flax, 1 cup almond milk, a handful of ice

trio of yummy kale smoothies and a surprised hubs :)

2 c kale, 1 lrg banana, 2 very ripe nectarines, 1 c blueberries, 1 cup vanilla yogurt, 1 T ground flax, 1 cup almond milk, a handful of ice, cheers!

2.5 c kale, 2 c watermelon, 0.5 c raspberries, 1 lrg orange, 1 cup mango yogurt, 1 T ground flax, 1 cup almond milk, a handful of ice, and enjoy!
